Born 1916. A published poet by the age of seventeen, contributing to Geoffrey Grigson's New Verse. First solo collection Poems and Songs published in 1939. Published a large number of collections over the years. Had a humorous style but was also controversial, his 1966 collection Pleasures of the Flesh being banned by WH Smith for being too erotic. Died 1995.
