Legendary publisher and poet, born in New York in 1919. Founded the City Lights Bookstore and its imprint City Lights Books – the latter famous as the publisher of Ginsberg’s Howl. As such, and through his patronage of the other Beats, Ferlinghetti is forever linked to the movement, although his work differs stylistically from that of the other writers connected to the genre.
