Janett Plummer is an accomplished performer, often going under the name of Melted Demerara, and multi-slam winner, reaching the UK Poetry Slam semi-finals in 2006. She won the Gwendolyn Brooks Annual Award in 2005. Janett Plummer has performed at the Tate, the Barbican, Poetry Café, Paradiso in Amsterdam and Recreation Rooms in Chicago.
Janett Plummer is the founder of Inspired Word, a women’s writing collective, and runs creative writing workshops for children and adults. She completed her Poets in Education Scheme training through Apples and Snakes in 2005. Janett Plummer has a background in theatre and is a member of Thea-poets and Malika’s Kitchen.
