Alternative folk singer who burst on to the scene thanks to the no-frills LP The Texas Campfire Tapes, recorded by Cooking Vinyl's Pete Lawrence on a portable cassette-recorder. Subsequently released a string of high-profile albums on Mercury. Has been out of the public eye recently following accusations of homophobia.
