Picture the Poet Live
Picture the Poet Live was the final event for a writing and performance development programme in Carlisle based on the Picture the Poet touring exhibition created by the National Portrait Gallery. Young people, new to writing for performance were mentored by experienced writers and performers (Kim Moore and Jenny Lindsay) over several weeks to produce their own responses to the pictures in the exhibition and to then perform these on stage to a live public audience, alongside professional spoken word artists Ian McMillan, Joshua Idehen, Miko Berry and their poet mentors. Pocket Club also performed a music set to create a unique and special event that was enjoyed by performers and audience alike. Play the video to see how well the evening went and to hear some of the fantastic reactions and thoughts from the night.
Picture the Poet live was a joint project run by the National Portrait Gallery, Apples and Snakes, The National Literacy Trust and Tullie House Museum, Carlisle.
