Jamaican reggae and dub poet, Kwesi Johnson, is still radical and relevant. His writing is largely political and reflects the experiences of growing up as a African-Carribbean in Britain and he obtained notoriety with poems such as "Inglan is a bitch" and "Sonny's Lettah" . Despite, or maybe because, of the controversy surrounding his work he has become a celebrated artist and in 2002 he became only the second living poet to have their worked published in the Penguin Modern Classics series and in 2012 he was awarded English Pen's Golden Pen award for Lifetime Literary Achievement joining a list of recipients that includes Iris Murdoch, Harold Pinter, Doris Lessing, John Berger, Salman Rushdie and Margaret Drabble.'
